Calendly is the best-known scheduling link in the world and it deserves that position — it does one job extremely well and refuses to bloat. Mako is the business platform underneath a service company: booking, payments, memberships, staff pay, retail, and financial reporting. Comparing them is only useful because so many service businesses genuinely start on Calendly and then hit a wall.
Calendly: Published and per seat. Free tier available. Standard at $10/seat/month, Teams at $16/seat/month, and Enterprise starting around $15,000/year with a 50-seat minimum.
Mako: Pulse is free. Basic at $139/month — the complete platform with three team members. Team at $249/month — fifteen team members, extra locations at $75/month each, advanced reporting, QuickBooks sync. Enterprise at $999/month — unlimited customers. Roughly 20% off annually, no contract, and no per-seat charge.
For a solo consultant, Calendly at $10 is the right answer and $139 would be absurd. For a six-person team it is $96/month on Teams — still cheaper, but now you are paying real money for a calendar and running payments, invoicing, and payroll somewhere else.
This is not a criticism. Calendly's discipline is why it is good. But a service business needs all of the following, and none of it is in Calendly:
If you are stitching Calendly to Stripe to a spreadsheet to QuickBooks with manual re-entry between them, that stack is your actual software cost — in hours as well as subscriptions.
Availability, time zones, buffers, round-robin, and rescheduling. Nothing is smoother.
$10–$16 per seat is a fraction of any business platform.
Everyone has used a Calendly link. Zero friction for the person booking.
It connects to nearly everything, which is exactly what a focused tool should do.
Booking plus payments, memberships and credits, invoicing, a customer portal, email and SMS automations, and win-back journeys — in one system with one record of the customer.
Profit per service after staff pay and consumables, cash-flow forecasting, unit economics, LTV.
Commission splits, tips, timesheets and payouts, calculated at the rate that applied on the day.
Fifteen team members on Team at $249, with nothing added per head.
Pulse compares your repeat-booking rate against market averages and names who has drifted. Free, and it imports from other platforms.

Your business is a business. Not a hobby, not a side project, not a calendar with a cash register. It deserves software that treats it accordingly. If your platform cannot tell you whether you are financially healthy, it is not doing its job. And in 2026, you have better options.
