COMMISSIONS & PAYOUTS

Build pay plans that fit how you actually pay.

Flat rate per job, percentage of revenue, percentage of profit, tiered rates based on volume, or any combination. Assign structures to team members, to services, or to both.

STRUCTURES

Four pay models, one payroll run.

Your lead instructor is on a revenue split, your weekend teacher is on tiered rates, your front desk is hourly and your apprentice is a flat rate per class. Mako holds all of it and settles them together.

AUTOMATIC CALCULATION

Commissions that calculate themselves.

As jobs complete and invoices get paid, Mako applies the structure you defined and records what is owed. Every line is traceable back to the job that earned it, which is why disputes stop happening.

TIERED RATES

Reward the people who bring in more.

First $1,000 at 35%, the next $1,500 at 40%, everything above $2,500 at 45%. Mako tracks progress through the ladder and applies the right rate to each dollar, and the person earning it can see exactly where they stand.

WHEN COMMISSION COUNTS

Never pay out on money you have not collected.

Choose whether commission is earned on job completion or on payment received. Pick payment received and Mako holds the commission on unpaid invoices, then releases it automatically when they clear.

Completion or payment: your call
Held commission visible, not hidden
Releases itself when the invoice clears
65%

of commission disputes come from calculation errors or a structure nobody could explain. Mako removes both: the maths is the same every week, and everyone can see it.

Contact us
Can commissions be based on profit instead of revenue?

Yes. Commission structures can calculate as a percentage of job profit (revenue minus costs) instead of gross revenue.

Can different people be on completely different pay models?

Yes. One person can be on a percentage of revenue, another on tiered rates, another hourly, another a flat rate per job. They all settle in the same payout run.

When is commission actually earned?

You choose: on job completion, or on payment received. Most owners pick payment received, so commission is never owed on an invoice that has not been collected.

How are tips handled?

Tips are tracked separately from commission and pass through in full to the person who earned them. They appear on the payout run but are never part of a commission calculation.

Can team members see their own numbers?

Yes. Each person sees their earnings, pending commission and payment history, but only their own, and only what their role allows.

What is Mako?

Mako is built for service businesses. It brings CRM, scheduling, payments, team tools, AI features and financial reporting into one app, so you can run the business without piecing together several systems.

Is there any demo available?

Yes. You can explore the full product in a self-serve demo, no signup required.

Can I import my existing customers?

Yes. Upload a CSV file and Mako will map your columns to customer fields and tags.

Do you perform full migrations?

Yes. Upon a full year commitment, our team can look at what you have on other platforms and perform the migration for you.

How long does setup take?

The onboarding wizard walks you through 6 steps: your business info, your profile, how you work, your services (pre-populated based on your industry), your booking link, and inviting your team. Most users are up and running within a single session.
