01 / Comments & Encouragement
Talk about the exact set, exercise or session
“How did that feel?” is a more useful question when both people know what “that” means. Attach your feedback to the program, planned workout, completed session, exercise or set you are discussing. Keep the prescription and recorded result close to the conversation.
Your client sees the same authorized discussion in Beta Training and can reply from that context. Return to the exchange when reviewing the next session or preparing a future plan. The client's reply adds what the numbers cannot tell you.

Keep a question open until it has an answer
A client can mark a discussion Ask coach when they need your help. You can also flag a conversation that needs a reply. Those questions belong in your Inbox and daily coaching queue, where they remain visible while an answer is due.
A read receipt means the discussion was opened. A reaction can acknowledge it. A substantive answer, or an explicit decision that the question is answered, closes the work. Respond beside the training, or continue in a general conversation with a link back to the original context.
A question stays open

Opening a discussion or reacting does not answer the question.
03 / Comments & Encouragement
Recognize the work your client recorded
Encouragement can be small and specific: a note after the first assigned workout, recognition of consecutive completed sessions, or a reaction beside a result. Name the work you can see and ask how it felt.
Comparable results can support a discussion about progress. More reps at the same load may deserve a closer look; calling something a personal best requires the matching exercise, units and context. Lower weights or an omitted exercise do not explain a client's motivation, pain or experience. Ask them.
- Write a short encouragement message.
- Acknowledge a completed session with a reaction.
- Celebrate a recorded milestone you have checked.
Recognize recorded work
- Earlier comparable set
- 20 kg × 8
- Latest completed set
- 20 kg × 9
- Coach action
- Ask how it felt
Specific encouragement follows the recorded result, without inferring pain or motivation.
04 / Comments & Encouragement
Know what was saved and who can see it
A comment can be pending, saved or failed. See that state in both apps so you know whether the discussion was recorded. Notification delivery has its own status: saving a comment does not prove that a notification reached the client or that they read it.
Shared feedback and coach-private notes stay separate. A private note is preparation for you, never a client comment, notification preview or source for a personal message draft.
Training discussions follow current sharing permission. Completed results appear after successful sync; an absent update or Unknown sync status is not evidence of a missed workout.

A coaching example
Illustrative coaching example: a conversation with Alex
Alex completes an assigned strength session and shares the completed result after sync. In a comparable exercise, the recorded load is unchanged and the rep count has increased. You open the exercise and write, “Good work on the extra reps today. How did the final set feel?”
Alex replies in Beta Training that the last few reps felt controlled but demanding. You answer the question about the next session and use the discussion when preparing a future prescription. The result and exchange stay connected. You have a specific coaching conversation, without claiming to have watched the workout.

Practical questions
A few things to know.
Which app does my client use to reply?
You work in Mako and your client logs assigned training and replies in Beta Training. Assigned-plan logging and replies are included with your coach plan. Training sharing is an optional, revocable choice; booking a session does not automatically enable it.
Can Mako help me draft a comment?
An optional draft can use an authorized result or recent shared conversation. You review, edit and approve it before sending. Drafts should stay with the facts you can inspect. You can always write manually, including when drafting assistance is unavailable.
Can I edit feedback after sending it?
You can edit your own comment, with an Edited indicator showing the change. If the underlying workout result is later corrected, the discussion can show that results changed since the comment. Review the updated record before relying on the earlier feedback.
What happens if a client stops sharing training?
Access to training discussions follows the current permission. Delayed comments are checked again before delivery, so a comment waiting to send can fail after sharing is revoked. Booking, receipts and other service communications follow their separate permissions and remain available where authorized.
